Fourth of July

We love to celebrate the Fourth of July and this year was a lot of fun. The weather here in Colorado has been a little off. We have had a lot of rain storms and tornado watches so off course it had to rain on the Fourth. We had to wait out the rain a little bit, but once it clear we were outside lighting off some fireworks. All the kids had a great time with their sparklers and just hanging out. The night was was perfect with good company and smiling happy kids! Its always good to take some time and remember how it all started and the Fourth makes you do that. Hope eveyone had a great Fourth of July and everyone was safe!

Father's Day

Ok finally some time to post! We had a wonderful Father's Day for Daddy. We spent the day hanging out and then it was off to Brian and Lisa's house for dinner. The kiddos just adore their Daddy so it is always fun to spoil him more than usual. The kids were full of kisses and hugs and even decided that Daddy need a long massage to relax. Chris was very appreciative and enjoyed dinner with the family! We are very blessed to have such a loving and involved Daddy!

California

We had such an amazing time in California! It was a long over due break for the family and it was nice to have some family time without all the distractions of life. We started our trip off in San Jose and the kids had a great time at the Children's Discovery Museum. Then it was off to San Fransico to stroll the pier with the sealgulls and pigeons. We ventured on to the aquarium where Jack and Samantha touched sting rays and starfish. We walked the pier and went aboard a military cruiser and saw a submarine. It was very interesting to see. Then it was off to the Golden Gate Bridge which Samantha slept through :0) The following day we made our way to Santa Cruz to the boardwalk and the beach. It is always wonderful to see our children running on the beach and not caring about anything else in the world! We finished the trip off in San Jose with Chris taking us down memory lane with all his old houses and schools from when he was young. It was one of the most enjoyable moments for me to see the sparkle in Chris' eye when he talked about some of the memories he has of places he went with Janice. The trip has always been something we wanted to do and we are so glad we finally took the time to make the trip! Can't wait to go back.

Happy Mother's Day

I feel so blessed every time I look into my childrens amazing eyes and smiles. They make me laugh, they make me cry, but most of all they just make me happy and complete! It was a great Mother's Day with family and the kiddos. My hubby always makes me feel special and loved, he is an amazing partner! Hope everyone had a great day as well and on this very special day know that we are all thinking of you and celebrating what you do! On this special day we will always remember Janice, the mother that we miss so very much!

Field Day

What is more fun then field day at the end of the year. Yes, in another month it will be that time of year for Jack. He was so excited to participate in field day with his class. They had all kinds of activities planned. They started their day at the rock wall climb, moved to Mission Impossible, off to the water relay, crazy three legged race, pumping parachute, silly squirt gun tag, and last but most fun the tug o war. Thankfully it was a beautiful day for the kids and Jack had so much fun! He loved the water relay and the tug o war the best, (except that the girls kicked the boys butts!) What a better way to end the day then ice cold otter pops! It was a fun day for all of us because Samantha got to be at school with Jack and cheer him on with Daddy :0)

Dying eggs for the Easter Bunny

Its hard to believe that it is already April! That just means that its time to color some eggs and see the Easter Bunny! The kiddos were so excited to color eggs that we did them before we went to see the Easter Bunny so they could tell him that their eggs were all ready for him. Samantha loved being able to drop the eggs in the dye and Jack was very creative this year wanting to do more than one color on his eggs. Once our eggs were completed it was time to go see the Easter Bunny. When we got there Samantha was waving and all happy until it was time to sit on his lap. Jack being the wonderful big brother that he is, sat down first and told Samantha he would hold her hand. She was funny because she would not sit next to him :0) So the Sloan house is now ready for the Easter Bunny to visit us!

Masterpieces

Today I took the kiddos to Arts on Fire which is a paint your own pottery place. Jack chose to paint a penguin and Samantha chose to paint a butterfly. They got so into picking their colors and cleaning off their pieces and then the masterpieces could begin. Samantha wanted a purple butterfly so she began with the eyes. Jack on the other hand wanted a black and blue penguin with green eyes. They both worked very hard on their pieces and I think they turned out great. At the end it was hard for Samantha to understand why we had to leave her butterfly there for them to cook it and she could not bring it home to show daddy. It was a fun day though and we can go back next week and pick up their finished masterpieces.
